[MID-PAGE — THE ZODIACAL COSMOGRAM (LT-060). A large composite painted figure, ~16 cm square. The outer frame is a square drawn in red-brown ink. Inscribed within the square is a diamond/lozenge — a square rotated 45° — also in red-brown. The four triangular gaps between the outer square and the inscribed diamond are each given one mid-edge zodiac glyph (each glyph appears between the corner-gap and the diamond's apex). Each of the four corners of the outer square also carries one zodiac glyph. The result is an 8-glyph zodiacal frame: 4 at the corners (the cardinal-quarter signs) and 4 at the midpoints (the fixed-quarter signs). Inside the diamond, a smaller inner square (upright) sits, containing the central composite figure. The cardinal-quarter mid-edges of the inner square contain four additional zodiac glyphs (the mutable-quarter signs), so the cosmogram bears 12 zodiac glyphs in total — one for each sign — distributed as: 4 at outer-square corners, 4 at outer-square midpoints, 4 at inner-square cardinal-midpoints.]

>

[Central composite figure within the inner square: a stylised anthropomorphic Mercurius. The figure is drawn as three superimposed and crossed implements:
- A green tool/glove (possibly a stylised hand-and-arm in green) on the right;
- A red double-armed cross or sword at the centre, vertically oriented;
- A blue tool / shield / glove on the left.
The three implements are conjoined at the centre into a triskelion / threefold-tool composite. Above the central figure, written in cursive:]

> m. (= "m." — the abbreviation for "Mercurius"; this is the inscription that names the central Mercurial figure)

>

[Just below the central "m." abbreviation, the painted figure shows a small vase/vessel held by the green-glove element — possibly the alchemical retort.]

>

[Zodiac glyph placement around the diamond — the 12 signs. As legible at 400 dpi, the corners and midpoints are populated by the following glyphs (clockwise from upper-left corner):
- Upper-left corner: ♍ Virgo (or the Virgo-cluster; cardinal-quarter West, autumn)
- Upper-mid (between corners): ♐ Sagittarius
- Upper-right corner: ♓ Pisces
- Right-mid: ♒ Aquarius
- Lower-right corner: ♑ Capricorn
- Lower-mid: ♏ Scorpio
- Lower-left corner: ♎ Libra (or possibly ♋ Cancer — partially obscured)
- Left-mid: ♌ Leo
[The four inner-square mid-points carry: ♈ Aries (top), ♉ Taurus (right), ♊ Gemini (bottom), ♋ Cancer (left) — i.e., the four cardinal-mutable signs at the inner cardinal positions. Reading-confidence on individual glyph positions is MEDIUM; the unambiguous fact is that all 12 zodiac signs are present, distributed across the corners and midpoints of the outer and inner squares.]

[Right-side vertical inscription, along the right edge of the cosmogram:]
> Signes Orientaux qui les Printemps ("Signs of the East [governing] the Springs")

>

[Left-side vertical inscription, along the left edge of the cosmogram:]
> Signes Occidentaux que l'Automne ("Signs of the West [governing] the Autumn")

>

[Below the cosmogram, in cursive:]
> Noby je male Summamens onibis (uncertain Latin; possibly a debased "Nobis ego mali summam unius omnibus" — "I [give] to all of us the summa of [the] one evil"; or possibly a misread "Nobis ergo mali summam in omnibus" — sense unclear; almost certainly mock-Latin or a copyist's flourish, not a true citation)
