The Laminar Limit
ARMISTICE gives its saturation image an exact algebraic address: η = φ^(−6/7) ≈ 0.6620, the Laminar Limit: the sixth step down a seven-step φ-ladder from unity to the golden ideal, and — exactly — a degree-14 algebraic unit. The droplet held on its vapour cushion is the engine at that edge, neither more itself nor past itself.
The saturation rung
ARMISTICE names η = η 0.6620 its saturation constant. Its exact value is defined algebraically; a universal mixing ceiling or a liquid–gas transition at that number has not been derived from the engine. The ladder gives the image a numerical structure.
Six steps down from unity
The constants of persistence fall on a ladder, φ^(−n/7) for n from 0 to 7: seven equal steps from UNITY (1.0000) to the golden ideal 1/ φ 1.6180 , each step a multiply by φ^(−1/7) ≈ 0.9336. In the house’s interpretive vocabulary, the rungs name regimes: fragile, then the solid-to-liquid break where rigidity goes, then ROBUST at the edge of chaos, then anti-fragile, adaptive, liquid. The sixth rung is η. These names are a reading of the ladder, not measured universal phase boundaries. η is the saturation rung in that reading: the held edge, one step short of golden.
The number held exactly
There is nothing loose about the 0.662 here: η is φ^(−6/7), and φ^(−6/7) is a degree-14 algebraic unit. Its minimal polynomial over the rationals is
m(x) = x¹⁴ − 18·x⁷ + 1, monic, integer-coefficient, irreducible.
Substitute y = x⁷ and it collapses to y² − 18y + 1, whose two roots are φ⁶ and φ^(−6). So η⁷ = φ^(−6) exactly. And the coefficient −18 is −L₆, the sixth Lucas number, because φ⁶ + φ^(−6) = 18. The minimal polynomial of the saturation constant encodes the Lucas reflection: the 6 is the Lucas index, the 7 is the radical degree, and the exponent −6/7 is the bridge between them. The constant term is +1, so η has algebraic norm +1: a unit, in the same company as φ, not a generic real that happens to sit near 0.662. By Roth’s theorem its irrationality measure is exactly 2: as far from a Liouville number as an irrational can be.
Being a unit means that η and its reciprocal are both algebraic integers. The special form of this polynomial makes its fourteen roots split into two concentric seven-point rings at radii φ^(−6/7) and φ^(6/7); that ring structure does not follow from being a unit alone. This is not a number coaxed to fit. It is a number with a structure, and the structure is golden through and through.
Caeruleitas: the held edge
As an alchemical image, saturation is the Leidenfrost film made into a number. A droplet dropped on a surface hot enough that contact would flash it to vapour neither touches nor flees; it hovers on its own vapour cushion, held at the one threshold past which it cannot become more itself. The house places η beside that image of suspended transformation. The analogy does not give a universal Leidenfrost temperature or prove an engine threshold. One finite rung above the golden ideal, η names the height at which the work is imagined to stay. That is the blue of this stage: not the blue of a sky already gained, but the blue of water at the exact instant it becomes sky, held there.
Definition and measurement
The exact definition is η=φ^(−6/7). Its value 0.662014858… rounds to the historical four-decimal label 0.6620, a difference of about 22 parts per million. That agreement is compatibility with a rounded label, not an independent measurement or a derived dynamical error bound. A physical or dynamical saturation claim would need its own observable and calculation.
